Quando qualcosa è impermeabile, significa che è impenetrabile all'acqua. L'umidità non può penetrare e viene respinta.   Quando qualcosa è resistente all'acqua, significa che in qualche modo la respinge. Tuttavia, se dovesse essere immerso in acqua, continuerebbe ad assorbire umidità. Non così tanto come se non fosse trattato, ma non è completamente impermeabile.   Perché non si dovrebbe impermeabilizzare la pelle? In realtà, senza un rivestimento impermeabile, la maggior parte degli articoli in pelle non sarà mai impermeabile al 100%. È importante sottolineare che alcuni prodotti impermeabilizzanti per pelletteria possono alterarne l'aspetto. Ad esempio, i prodotti a base di silicone sono noti per essere aggressivi soprattutto sulle pelli chiare. Ciò non significa che non si debba trattare la pelle. Infatti, esistono molte opzioni da testare sulla pelle per renderla il più possibile resistente all'acqua. Alcune di queste finiture hanno un aspetto incredibilmente naturale, mentre altre possono sembrare cerose e spesse. La scelta dipende dall'uso che si farà dell'articolo in pelle. Ma finiture come il Resolene possono dare al vostro oggetto una lucentezza degna di un prodotto in pelle di qualità, fornendo al contempo la necessaria protezione dagli agenti atmosferici.
