What not to do with Leather Edge Paint

In order to have a product that is always fresh and at the top of its performance, it is advisable to take some precautions. This is where we come in with some tips.

Painting leather edges is quite uncomplicated, especially with our paints, but it is necessary to always observe the tips and tricks we are about to share with you.

Do not shake the bottle too vigorously

It is really important to not shake the bottle too hard before use. The reason for this is that if you shake too strongly, you can create air bubbles inside the paint, thus reducing the quality of the end result. If you consider it necessary, you can simply mix it with a clean stirring rod before use.

Do not contaminate the paint

This is a very important aspect to pay attention to, in order to extend the shelf life of the leather edge paint (or any paint in general) as much as possible. As you know, water-based paints are more sensitive than solvent-based ones, so it is important not to contaminate them.

Use a clean rod to mix the paint

Do not pour it back into the bottle

If you have poured the paint into another container to facilitate application, do not re-pour that paint into the bottle once you have finished.

Close the bottle well

To prevent the paint from drying out close the bottle very well

Do not pick up the paint directly from the original bottle

These precaution will simply avoid bacterias to contaminate the paint and make it smell or be unusable.

Do not mix paints of different type

Normally leather edge paints can be mixed together, but be careful not to mix leather edge paints of different type. For example you CANNOT MIX:

  • DENSE EDGE PAINT with BASIC EDGE PAINT
  • DENSE WITH PROTECTING GLOSS or EXTRA MATTE TOPCOAT

What you can do to create your own shade is to mix:

  • DENSE EDGE PAINT with DENSE EDGE PAINT
  • BASIC EDGE PAINT with BASIC EDGE PAINT

Trying to mix paints of different types may result in the colour you were looking for, but the paint will no longer have its original characteristics and will probably not work well as a leather edge paint.
